Dentofacial Deformities

The term dentofacial deformity refers to a significant deviation of the proportions of the maxillomandibular complex, which affects the relationship between the teeth in the dental arches or the relationship of the dental arches between them, that is, dental occlusion.

The affected patient will have different degrees of commitment of functions related to breathing, swallowing, speaking, chewing and lip positioning.

There may also be effects on the temporomandibular joints (TMA’s), periodontium and teeth.

Facial disproportion may cause some negative effect on the patient’s psychological health, from which I would highlight the effect on self-esteem, which can impact not only on a personal level but even at professional level.

Conventional Orthodontics

It is the traditional orthodontic treatment in which the brackets are glued in front of the teeth and through them the teeth are guided to the correct and functional position. The accessories can be metallic or aesthetic and are fixed to the teeth.

Orthodontics with Aligners

This type of orthodontic treatment is performed with a sequence of gutters made of plastic material that corrects the dental position by increasing pressure of the material on the teeth with each gutter sequence.

Interceptive Orthodontics

It is the most suitable treatment for growing children, who need to correct the position of their teeth and facial bones. If you notice changes in your children’s dental arches, do not hesitate: Schedule an appointment.

Orthognathic surgery

Orthognathic surgery is a technique used to correct changes in the growth of the jaws, known as dentofacial anomalies, which can lead not only to bite, joint and breathing disorders, but also affect facial aesthetics.
